UPCOMING CERT TRAINING CLASS BEGINS FEBRUARY 21, 2008. REGISTER NOW TO BE TRAINED ON HOW TO HELP OUR COMMUNITY IN THE EVENT OF ANOTHER EMERGENCY SITUATION:

Rancho Bernardo Community Council's Public Safety Committee needs your help with preparing our community for emergency situations. We are recruiting residents in our community as volunteers for the City of San Diego's Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). The teams are made up of community members trained in basic disaster response, fire safety, light search and rescue, incident command organization and disaster medical operations. CERT San Diego is taught by San Diego Fire-Rescue personnel. You will learn how to make your home and neighborhood safer, build a disaster kit, learn to combat "the three killers", how to use fire extinguishers and how to form a team working with the Fire Department in disaster situations. Classes are on evenings and weekends. Anyone 18 years of age and older is eligible to take the classes. There is no tuition for the six-week CERT academies. For more information click here: CERT San Diego Classes | San Diego Fire-Rescue Department. To download an application, click here: http://www.sandiego.gov/fireandems/cert/pdf/certapp.pdf or call (619) 533-3075. Rancho Bernardo needs CERT volunteers. Join the team. BEING PREPARED: It CAN happen | The San Diego Union-Tribune

(North County Times)

BE PREPARED FOR:
Earthquakes, Fires, Flood/Drought, Power Failures or
Terrorist Attacks

When any one of these disasters strike, our government agencies will be inundated with emergency calls and may not be able to come to our assistance for at least 72 hours. Rancho Bernardo needs to work together as a community to prepare ourselves for any type of disaster (joining CERT). We also need to educate and prepare ourselves as individuals until outside help can come to our aide.

Below are suggested lists on how to be better prepared for such situations:
