An Anatomy of Bridge Demolition and Reconstruction
The following photos show the demolition, construction, and reopening of the I-15 Southbound overpass at Bernardo Center Dr.
--The first photo is June 30, 2007 at 9:45 am, just 12 hours after demolition began.
--The second photo shows the progress on January 14, 2008 at 10:45 am.
--The third photo shows traffic on the new bridge on March 26, 2008 at 4:30 pm.
Caltrans kept the traffic flowing on I-15 by diverting the southbound lanes onto the new center lanes during construction.
This overpass was completely demolished and reopened by Caltrans in less than 9 months.
